The Before, The After and The In Between

Wow!  The past week has been a complete blur.  And I realize now more than ever after seeing the last time I blogged.  In between sinus infections (yes, all three of us were sick at once, fun times), Santa and presents, stupid snow storms in the Northeast wrecking havoc on our family plans and the Evans family visiting I just lost track of time and forgot to blog.  There I said!  I forgot to blog!  HA!

So to make up I'm going to post LOTS of pictures and you can see how much Eli enjoyed Christmas and the before and after events.  It never really felt like Christmas and I still can't figure that one out, but nonetheless it was the best one yet!  Eli was so much fun this year!  And we can see each year getting better and it makes us so excited!  He was really into Santa.  If you asked him "what does Santa say?" he would follow with the answer of "ho ho ho"!  Cutest thing ever!  He's really starting to talk more and more and is actually putting words together to form short sentences.  His favorite the past couple of days "Where's Papaw?", "Come on Papaw".  The boy loves his Papaw!  Don't worry, he loves all his grandparents but there's something about his Papaws!

So my plans were to upload these pictures and post them in chronological order but something went wrong with the upload and I can't figure out how to move them.  So I apologize.  But at least you are getting to see them, right?!  I will try to explain as you read...

I took this as a progression picture of Eli's major boo boo.  His poor nose was still swollen here.  His eye was still black on Christmas Day but at least the scab had come off his nose!  It's almost completely healed  now!  You can just barely see a yellow bruise in the corner of his eye.

My Dad and Sheila drove up the Wednesday before Christmas to give the grandson's their presents.

Eli loves his new slide as you can see!

Eli running into the living room to see what Santa had left him!  He was so excited!

Choo choo!  Definitely his favorite present from Christmas!  The first thing he said when he walked into to see his presents was "choo choo"!

His new Jeep!  He's not so sure about it still.  He will sit in it and turn the steering wheel but don't dare show him how to press the gas pedal.  He's terrified of it!  He's never been a big fan of loud noises.  I'm sure he will warm up to it.

The most annoying toy Santa brought.  But Eli LOVES it!

We went to my sister and BIL's Christmas Day evening for a wonderful meal.  I think Eli was overwhelmed by new toys at this point.

The day after Christmas Eli decides he will check out his Jeep again and pose for a few pictures.

He was feeling extra loving and wanted to give Santa a kiss.  How sweet is that?!

And of course a hug!

Thanks to the crazy snow storm in the Northeast Chad's brother, SIL and their kids weren't able to fly in for the much anticipated trip.  Thankfully Chad's parents and sister decided to come anyway.  We took Eli to Boingo Bounce yesterday.  I think it's our new favorite thing to do!  He has the best time there and we love watching him jump and run and play!

Rocking away

These pictures were supposed to go towards the beginning.  I let Eli help me decorate some Christmas cookies for Santa.  He thought it was the coolest!  I see more baking in our future.

Hmmm.  How did that green icing get on your mouth, Eli?

Well, I hope you've enjoyed reading about our Christmas fun.  Hopefully next year no one will be sick and there won't be snow storms closing airports!  I have a few videos I may try to upload later.  But don't get your hopes up to high!

Christmas, Rounds One & Two

Last weekend we took a trip to FC to do Christmas with my family.  We haven't been to FC for Christmas in 3 years!  I guess things change when you are pregnant and have kids!

We don't normally like to leave so late but with Chad's busy work schedule we didn't have a choice.  We dressed Eli in his Christmas PJs and left a little before his bedtime.  He did great on the ride, mostly watching movies.

Eli was cheesing big time before we left for FC!  He would make this face for the camera then bust out laughing!

What a nut!

Since he was in Christmas PJs and in such a great mood I thought I would get some pictures in front of the tree.  This is where he went when I told him "stand in front of the tree so Mommy can take some pictures".  Instead he got UNDER it!

ROUND ONE: presents
Presents from Great Grandma.  Eli definitely knows what "presents" are and how to open them!

Eli and his Great Grandma Graves

Playing with new toys from Mimi and Grandy Pearson

Eli and his cousin, Matthew

ROUND TWO: more presents!

Jumping on his new trampoline from Mimi and Papaw Evans

I think he likes it!

We just did Christmas with the rest of my family today so I will have more pictures to come soon!
And of course more on the big day, which is only 3 DAYS away!!
But who's counting?

First black eye

Eli had an accident at the babysitter's house today.  He was running and fell into a chair and floor face first!  His nose is carpet burned and right eye is swollen and turning black.  I think he's probably going to have a good shiner in the morning!  And I'm sure it will be there for Christmas as well!

Yes, I'm fully aware it's been a long time since I blogged last.  I promise I will have more posts this week and show updated pictures.  It's just a busy time of year I guess!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

We FINALLY decorated our tree tonight!  We've been having a little Christmas tree delimma in our house the past couple of weeks but it's finally come to an end and we have a tree.  I don't think I've put a tree up this late in a really long time.  Eli is in love with Christmas trees so I've been stressing about giving him a tree.  He helped decorate the tree and it was the cutest thing!  He put each ornament in the same pile on the tree.  I tried getting pictures but he refused to look at the camera for once.  That doesn't happen often!  I'm not finished with the top.  I'm still trying to figure out what to put up there.  And I'm shopping for a new skirt.  Ours clashes with the new mesh ribbon I bought for the tree.

PS.  Please ignore all the crap on the floor.  I do live with a 2 year old you know!

I found Eli playing in the bath tub today (with no water in it). I told you he likes the bath tub!

More birthday pictures

Here are more pictures from Eli's birthday as I promised earlier.  He had a great day!  He was extra sweet and loving and never threw his normal fits.  Maybe because I gave in to whatever he wanted?

Whatever it was, we had a great day hanging out together!  Papaw and Grandma came to visit and took us to lunch (of course they brought presents which made Eli happy)!  After Eli's nap we played outside with his new tricycle and then went to Boingo Bounce.  His best friend, Alexi, met him there.  He had the best time playing and bouncing!  We will definitely return soon!  Afterwards, Robyn, Wayne & Matthew came over for grilled burgers and cupcakes.

It was a good day!

Happy birthday, Eli!

Today is a very special day in the Evans' household.  Eli turns TWO today.  I don't know where the past two years have gone.  He's such a big boy now and we have loved every second of watching him grow!  Here's a little bit about what Eli is doing or loving these days....

He loves Elmo, trucks, pancakes, jumping and running, Horton, choo choos, balls, blocks, juice, his dogs (JoJo and Jigs), Alexi (his best friend), saying cheese for the camera, french fries, being outside, reading books, swinging and sliding, all of his grandparents and airplanes.

He can say so many words now, but most of it is toddler talk.  Momma and Daddy know what he's saying and I guess that's what matters most!

He's becoming interested in potty training but we're not pushing it.  I think when he's ready we'll know.  He loves bath time and most nights we have to drag him out of the bath because the water is freezing cold and he's shivering!  He doesn't get out of the water without a fight though!
Most time he's kicking and screaming :)

He can watch almost a whole episode of Sesame Street without moving.  His attention span has really grown.  He travels well now thanks to the DVD player in the car (thank you, Honda)!

He is the easiest toddler to get to sleep now.  We tell him it's time for "night-night" and most of the time he will run into his room wanting in his bed.  We lay him in his crib and he tells us "night-night", blows us kisses and then falls asleep.  I don't know how it got that easy but I think we deserve it after the struggle we had for the first 18 months of his life!!

We love this little man with all our hearts and love watching him explore and learn new things.  This has been the best two years of our lives!

Happy Birthday, Eli!

Expect more birthday pictures to come!

Happy Turkey Day!

I have so much to be thankful for this year I don't even know where to start.  First off, I'm very thankful for my loving family!  I don't know where I would be without Chad and Eli!  And I have the best friends anyone could ask for!  I am thankful to have a job I love (most days anyway).  This morning Eli was thankful for his tent and the Thanksgiving day parade!  He had a great time watching it while I cooked lunch!

We've had a great Thanksgiving Day so far, even though we are missing our family.  We've gotten used to spending it alone I guess.  We woke up early this morning, had our coffee and then I started cooking.  We were eating lunch by 11:00!  It's was very yummy I must say!  Turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, macaroni and cheese and rolls.  After we put Eli down for a nap I started on Grandma's Chocolate Pie.  It's a Thanksgiving tradition!  Since the weather isn't so great outside I'm going with a cool whip topping instead of real meringue.  I'll let you know how it turns out!

And for the best treat of the day we were surprised with this....

SNOW!!!!!
It was pretty while it lasted!
Tonight we are going to a friend's house to indulge once again.
I love you Thanksgiving Day!

Turkey Day Eve

Eli discovered the classic Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
It's the only thing we had to watch since Jigs chewed our cable for the THIRD time.

Here Eli is trying to take his own picture with my iPhone while saying "cheese".
That boy does love a camera!
I don't know how that happened?!

Yes, you read that correctly up above.  Jigs has been breaking down our lattice under our deck, pulling out our cable and chewing it so we no longer have TV.  TV is important when you have a toddler and need to occupy him while you want to get some things done around the house (such as cook supper).  On Monday Chad spent part of the day replacing the lattice with plywood so Jigs couldn't get to the cable anymore.  Well, he THOUGHT he had fixed it.  There was one area he forgot about.  Well, I guess Jigs had had his eye on it because yesterday morning he broke through it and chewed our cable again!  Poor Chad spent 2 hours in the pitch black dark (because Jigs chewed our light switch outside) repairing the cable and boarding up the rest of the deck.  Hopefully he will not tear down Chad's repair work this time!  And Jigs has earned himself a kennel.  He didn't realize how good he had it in our backyard.  We hate to do it to him but it's our only choice.  Sorry, Jigs!

Fun at Silver Dollar City

Yesterday we decided to take a day trip to Branson to Silver Dollar City.  We had a great time!  It got a little colder than we expected after the sun went down but that didn't stop us from watching the Christmas Light Parade!  Everyone should make a trip to Silver Dollar City to see all the Christmas lights!  They are beautiful!

Eli bundled up waiting for the parade.

Eli loading the ball gun and shooting it.  He thought this was the funniest thing ever!

Eli in the ball house.  He LOVED this place!  We could have stayed there the entire time!

Sliding in the toddler area.

Silver Dollar City is fun!
