Fun in July

Here are a few of my favorite pictures from July.  Eli and I really enjoyed our breakfast dates this summer!  He always wanted to go to Cracker Barrel but I tried to persuade him to try other places.  It wasn't too hard when I mentioned doughnuts :)

We went to Forrest City one weekend for a golf tournament and stayed at the farm.  The sunflowers were gorgeous that weekend!

We made a trip to Silver Dollar City.  Eli had been talking about riding a real roller coaster for a while.  He was all smiles until about half way through.  I think it will be a while before he gets back on it!

Hey, it's me, Mario!

We have finally gotten rid of these plastic golf clubs!  We definitely got our $5 worth!

Eli and Josey have become the best of friends.  Josey has become a little more tolerant of Eli and sleeps with him each night.

Whoever thought of putting Nerds candy in a slushes at Sonic is brillant!

Breakfast date again!  This time Susan's was the pick of the day.

Eli had been saving his Toys R Us gift card since Easter.  It was a rainy day so we went to spend his gift card and get a new toy.  This is what he picked out.  He was pretty proud!

And that folks, was what happened in our lives during the month of July.
Aren't we so exciting?!?!

4th of July

We had a nice low key 4th of July this year.  We shot lots of fireworks ourselves and went to two big displays locally.  Eli used to be scared of fireworks but he loves them now!

 We also caught lightning bugs!

Of course we had to buy the poopy puppy firework!
Who comes up with these things????

We went swimming early and then came home and everyone crashed.
Everyone except me of course.

The 4th of July is my favorite summer holiday!
And this was one of the best!

Connecticut in June

We went to Connecticut the end of June for a long weekend.  I love flying into New York City and seeing the skyline.  American Airlines should pay me for this picture!

Eli and Grant went straight to playing when we arrived.

Chad and Brian ran in a Spartan race while we were there.  It was Chad's first Spartan race.  He did great!

Brian took us to the Lobster Shack for lunch one day.

This lobster roll tasted as good as it looks!

After lobster rolls we went for a boat ride.

To end the night we went on a dinner date with Brian and Sue.

On the way home our connecting flight got cancelled due to bad weather in Chicago.  We made the best of it and got a hotel.

Eli was excited to be staying in a hotel!

Back at the airport for the second day

We finally made it home only to find our car battery was dead.  Evidently I left a light on inside the car.
Even with all of our bad luck on the way home, it was a great trip!  We love going to Connecticut to visit, especially in the summer!

June

Here are a few pictures of our fun times during the month of June.
We spent a lot of time outside playing, swimming and enjoying the great weather.

Eli has wanted a lemon tree for a couple of years.  We found one and decided we would give it a try.  It's still alive with a few lemons on it!

I decided at the beginning of summer that Eli and I would try to have a breakfast date once every couple of weeks.  It became one of my favorite parts of summer and something we will definitely make a tradition for the summers to come!

Eli insisted on a mo-hawk for the first day of Vacation Bible School.

Matching tattoos for best buds

They were pretending to dig for gold.  Too bad they didn't strike it!

This was one of the many trips to the Aquatic Center over the summer.

Monster Trucks

If you ask Eli what he wants to be when he grows up he will tell you he wants to be a monster truck driver.  There was a monster truck show in town so we thought it would be fun to take Eli.

Eli and Chad rode in the monster bus.

Seeing this smile on his face was totally worth it!  He loved it!  I have a feeling we will be back another time.

Last Day of Preschool

Eli's last day of preschool seems like forever ago.  But I didn't want to skip over it because I was so far behind in blogging.  His last day of preschool was bittersweet for me.  We loved his teachers and school!

I love comparing first day and last day pictures.  He always changes so much during the school year!

They had an end of the year program at school with a Disney theme.  This superhero shirt was the closest we could find to anything Disney related in Eli's closet.

They sang a few songs and were awarded a certificate for completing preschool.
