Ready for Spring

We are so ready for spring in our house!  We've finally had some much needed nice weather the past week or so.  We took the time to play in the backyard and (even better) get out of the house and head to the park.  Eli was happy to get out!  He's definitely an outside child!

His new trick on the swing

I just thought this was a cool picture of the moon from out backyard.

"Hello, welcome to my house"

Action shot, mid slide

We took Jigs to the park with us.

Eli had a great time watching him run around and play fetch with Chad.

One day they will be best buds!

Eli enjoying crackers and honey for his appetizer at Venesian Inn.

Thank goodness I went to see what he was up to in the kitchen.  He had found the pot holder in the drawer and opened the oven, pretending he was cooking.  Don't worry the oven wasn't on!  But are there child locks for ovens?  I may need to invest in some.

Spring can't get here fast enough!

Sweet Treats

We made rice crispy treats this morning.
Eli couldn't wait to get his hands on them and eat one!

Yummy!

I've found I really like baking for Eli.  I know no baking is required for rice crispy treats but you still have to mix things together!  I love seeing that smile on his face when he finally gets to enjoy it!  I'm probably not helping his sweet tooth but oh well.  We have fun together!

Valentine's Day Date

We had a great Pre-Valentine's day on Sunday.  We went shopping and then had a date to PF Changs, all three of us!  It was a lot of fun.  We learned Eli likes Chinese food!  I got a gift card to Sephora from Chad and a massage from Eli.  I have the best valentines in the world!  And they are super cute if you ask me!

Lazy Days

Eli and I are being lazy today.
This happens most days I'm off unless I have errands to run.
We hang out in the mornings... He watches cartoons and plays with toys while I catch up on what's happening in the world on the computer.
I love these days!

Trying to be like Mommy and take pictures with his own camera

He loves books!

Maybe later we will venture out but for now we're going to be lazy!

Just Like Old Times

My best friend, Connie, came to visit this weekend, along with her son, Grayson and husband, Adam.  We had a great time catching up and hanging out!  It had been almost a year since we had seen each other.  They live in Denver and it's just hard to get together now that we have kids.

There were very few whines and cries over toys and it was mostly smiles from the boys all weekend.  Grayson is one and Eli's two, so I didn't know how they would do playing together.  They did surprisingly well!  There was only one incidence of pushing and hitting (of course Eli was the bully).  I think they are going to best buds when they grow up, but I don't think they will really have a choice!

Sharing grapes

How cute are they?!!  Both boys are so happy in the morning!

We went to visit our friend, Adrienne, while Connie was here.  Adrienne was my roommate in college and just had a baby 5 short weeks ago.  Baby Davis is a perfect baby.  He's so laid back!

Of course we had to pose all the boys for a picture!

We haven't taken a family picture in a long time.  I'm usually the one behind the camera so I rarely get to be IN the picture!

More Snow

We got our historical, record-breaking snow yesterday.  Sadly, I still haven't uploaded pictures from the last snow.  So I'm compiling them all to this one blog post.  All the pictures of actual snow are from the snow we received yesterday.  They forcasted 3-6 inches.  We got 24.  I would say they were a tad off.

Honestly, I'm tired of snow.  Whoever wishes for 2 feet of the white stuff?  NOT ME!  I love this picture!
The only good thing about all this snow, snow ice cream!  I haven't had snow ice cream since I was a small child.  Thanks to my friend, Paula Deen, for the wonderful recipe.  Chad and I each made it our own by adding extra ingredients.  I like chocolate ice cream, I added Hershey's syrup.  Chad likes strawberry, he added strawberry jam.  I have to say his tasted quite GOOD!  I might add strawberry jam to mine tonight.

With all these snow days I think Eli has drug out every toy he owns, watched every cartoon created and eaten more cookies/cookie dough than any kid should ever eat!  Valentines cookies, anyone?  Go here for the recipe.  There were yummy!  Today we are making brownies!

Yum!

I would say this is a happy face!  With all those cookies he's eaten he SHOULD be happy!

Here are some pictures Chad managed to snap while I was working yesterday.  This amount of snow was just amazing!  Where did the chairs go?

This dog pen is 4 ft tall.  The snow covers half of it!

This is the view out our front door!

I saw some people in our neighborhood sledding behind 4 wheelers.  I admit, I'm jealous.  It looks like FUN!  Maybe in a few years when Eli's older we will be doing the same thing!

Watching one of his many cartoons during our snow days.

The dogs playing nice (not really, it just looks that way).  It hasn't been much fun having both of them in the house.  Josey (the dachshund) doesn't like Jigs (the lab).  I'm constantly having to keep them separated.  I'm ready for better weather so Jigs can go back outside!

Eli's really into drawing right now.  Maybe I should be brave and get some finger paints?

This what we resort to when we can't make it to Boingo Bounce.

This is where he chose to watch cartoons this morning.

Josey doesn't care how many toys are in the floor.  He's going to find the sun!

Eli pretending to go to sleep on his trampoline.  This is the face he makes when he says "night night".  How cute!

Snow day(s)

In case you live in a bubble or really far away, we got lots of snow and ice on Tuesday.  Of course I had to work that day.  I guess it ended up working out okay.  Chad got off early that day and I'm off the rest of the week.  Eli and I stayed at home for our "snow day" yesterday. We stayed in PJs all day and I never stepped a foot outside!  I only opened the door for the dogs to go out every once in a while.  Eli had a good time playing, watching cartoons and baking cookies.  I introduced him to the wonders of cookie dough.  I think I've created a cookie dough monster now!  Today we are gonna try to get out and head to Boingo Bounce for some entertainment!

Eli loves to get the camera and take pictures of himself!  This is one of the many pictures he has taken.

I was gonna take another picture of the cookies after I piled them on the plate.  Well, once we ate one cookie, we ate another, and another, and another and so on.  Pretty soon half of them were gone!  Good thing I snapped this picture!  I don't usually bake from scratch.  I found this recipe for oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and had all the ingredients so I went for it.  They turned out really yummy!  And Eli had a good time too!

Of course we've been letting Jigs stay inside during this horrible weather.  We don't really have a choice since the windchill has been below zero around the clock.  I think he's getting spoiled!  And I'm ready for it to warm up so he can go back outside!
