Lazy Weekend

We've had a very lazy weekend. And I've loved it!

Eli played outside in the backyard on Saturday. The weather was nice enough for him to "dig for gold". His obsession right now is watching "Gold Rush" with Chad and pretending to dig for gold in the backyard. He was sharing his "gold" with me here...

Eli wanted to pose with his tractors. He told them all to look at the camera and smile :)

We bought steaks at the store for dinner Saturday night. I've been wanting to try the restaurant style steaks floating around on Pinterest. I put a salt and pepper rub on it. Seared it in a cast iron skillet for 3 minutes each side. Then I finished it off in the oven for about 5 minutes. I made a garlic herb butter that we topped after it came out of the oven. Ummm, can you say yum? It was delicious! This is how I want my steaks from now on. Who needs a grill?

We finished the night off with roasting marshmallows over Eli's campfire setup thing his Mimi got him for Christmas. He asks to do this all the time he loves it!
Today we had to go to Cabela's so I could exchange some shoes. Shopping with Eli is starting to become a challenge.

We decided to stop by the playground and let Eli run off some energy since we had been cooped up in the house most of the weekend. We didn't stay long because Eli fell and cut his hand. Nothing bad but it hurt pretty badly I think. When he got to the top of the bridge he said "I'm king of the castle and princesses can't come"! Ha! At least he knows mommy is the princess :)
We got home and he finished off the day playing in the front yard riding his four wheeler and scooter.
And to top the day off I made a decadent chocolate cake. I fixed Eli a piece of cake and ice cream. He took one bite and said "mommy, this is the most wishous (delicious) cake you ever made me". Melted my heart :)

Krispy Kreme

We went out to eat a couple weekends ago. After dinner we decided to stop by Krispy Kreme to grab some doughnuts for breakfast the next morning. The beautiful, red "HOT" sign was lit up. You know the one I'm talking about. The one that tells you there are hot, fresh doughnuts inside! I love when that sign is on! The doughnuts fresh off the conveyer belt are amazing. They just melt in your mouth. We've taken Eli to Krispy Kreme before but not for a long time so he didn't remember it. I don't think he will be forgetting this place for long time now! He loved watching the doughnuts on the conveyer belt!

Did you know when the light is on outside they will give you a free doughnut right off the conveyer belt?
Best. Doughnut. Ever.
And Eli thinks so too!
I love this little brown-eyed boy!
Needless to say, Eli has asked a few times to go back to the "doughnut place with the conveyer belt". I have a feeling we will make another trip soon!

Happy New Year!

Our New Years Eve was very uneventful. We hung around the house and stayed inside where it was warm. We had a little snow on the ground from the previous few days. Eli had been dying to go outside and play in the snow. We finally let him. And yes, those are pajama bottoms he's wearing outside in the snow. He was out there a total of about 15 minutes I think.

We had promised to take Eli somewhere "fun" later that afternoon if he was good. Well, he wasn't the best but I had to get out of the house. So we headed to Fun City, a local place comparable to Chucke Cheese. We ended up staying there for 2 hours! Eli had a great time!

These pictures are not in order but I don't feel like changing them. I'm still trying to figure out this new app on my iPad. But at least you are seeing pictures!

Testing, Testing...

I finally found an app I can use to do blog posts from my iPad! This is a big deal for me! And it should be for you too. It means I will be blogging more hopefully. I know you're excited!
Eli and I had a great day today. We stayed in pajamas until about 2:00, when we ran to Walmart to pick up a few groceries. Only to come back home and change back into pajamas. We have been dealing with behavioral issues (mostly minding and talking back) with Eli. We think he is acting terribly but I've been reassured he acting like a normal 4year old. Our problem is just finding what punishment works best for Eli. We threatened to start taking away toys if he doesn't mind. Evidently we got his attention because he has been on his best behavior since! I'm also reading the book "123 Magic". I'll let you know how it goes.
Here a few pictures from our lazy day together...
Eli discovered rotel cheese dip today. He loved it!
This boy loves Nutella so much he asks for it on a spoon. Don't worry, there were two bananas eaten with it too! I don't just give him spoonfuls of chocolate!
Good night, all!
